Yakup

Hailing from Istanbul but formed in Seattle in 2005, the group includes Yakup Trana (vocals, guitar) Ceki Levikatan (guitar), Reha Hendem (bass guitar) and Çağdaş Yapıcılar (drums).
This serebe band’s principle is sharing music with people and offering joyous times.
Debut album ‘Şunu Bunu’ (This And That) was released in 2005 followed by a single ‘Karanlıkta’ (In Dark). The band describes the album as “the presentation of classic rock in Seattle perspective”.
Yakup completed second album ‘Kaos’ (Chaos) in Seattle and released it in 2007. It offers the Turkish rock community a modern take in Western rock music and the whole album can be heard via the band’s official website.

Bedwetters

Bedwetters was born in 2004. Since then the line-up has changed several times. The band consists of five members: Joosep Järvesaar, Mihkel Mõttus, Karl-Kristjan Kingi, Kaspar Koppel and Rauno Kutti.

In 2007, Bedwetters won the young band contest and they were recognized as the best young band in Estonia. They also received an award - making their own music video, and it’s been a hectic time for Bedwetters ever since.

As new winds are blowing, the band hopes to make it big on the world stage. They are planning to start making their debut album in autumn, so it will hopeful

Arctic Monkeys

Launched on the world in 2002 Arctic Monkeys are the finest witty, social commentating, sing-out-loud indie rock to come from Sheffield since, well, Pulp really.

Whatever they put in the water in Sheffield, they should bottle it. With a natural wit, a natty line in tracksuit tops and a healthy disregard for awards shows, the four lads’ songs create a sense of place and time so real you can feel the pub carpets sticking to your trainers. Sideways looks at modern life that could only come from Northern England laid over guitar hooks you could hang a side of beef on threw them in front of an instantly adoring world and they’ve not looked back since.

A large part of their success came from the ground up with fan-made compilation tapes building a word of mouth reputation that marketing bods the world over would kill their cats for.

Muse

If Muse sound like something from another planet when you whack 'em on your stereo, seeing them live is like going there with them.

A sound that measures on the Richter scale combine with a display of lights that can cause a problem for passing aircraft, to create an experience that is not to be missed. If you're sick of the oldies rattling on about Pink Floyd, get up and see their modern equivalent.

It was no throwaway comment from Justin Timberlake when he called them the best band present at last years EMAs; but is that still true today?

Only you can decide…

Foo Fighters

The Foo's are one of those bands who kinda sit and quietly produce fantastic music, while the rest of the world screams about getting noticed.

Could be that Dave Grohl's involvement with Nirvana kinda ruined any dreams of fame for him? Or it could just be that the four of them are more interested in writing a great tune than they are the screaming.

'In Your Honor' was a double disk of pure treats; a kick ass first disk and a mellow flavoured second gave a little something for everyone, though new disk, 'Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace,' sounds like it's got disk two written all over it.

Whatever they're going for, though, the Foos are a proper class…

Amy Winehouse

Amy Winehouse has had an astonishing year.

Her new album 'Back to Black' not only sounds like it was sung by a soul diva from Motown's heyday, it could have been written by a woman thirty years her senior.

Never one to short change her life experience bank account, she's been in and out of rehab and has made it from small town Southgate, in the leafy suburbs of London, to conquer the world.

If you need any proof of her pedigree, one listen at 'Love is a Losing Game' from this year's Mercury prize will silence the doubters. Amy is the stuff that legends are made from.
